With our current President, Cecilia Bellamy, coming from "North of the border", it was only fitting that we celebrated the birthday of Scotland's most famous poet in style, so our meeting on Tuesday 24th January 2006 took the form of a traditional "Burns' Supper". Piper Eddy Cornet provided appropriate atmosphere by playing the bagpipes while President Cecilia and her guests entered. He repeated the performance when the Haggis itself was carried in. The President of the Stratford and District Caledonian Society addressed the Haggis, while Past President Bill Kehr provided a wonderful version of "The Immortal Memory". The "Lassies" were toasted and President Cecilia responded - reminding the English in the room just how grateful they should be to Scottish ingenuity!
